Training our Arrows

A precious friend of my recommended a book called One Million Arrows.   I've had it on my bookshelf for months but haven't read it yet.   While Chad was off work, he picked it up and read it pretty quickly.  He loved it. It's about training your children to be launched out into the world as "arrows" to reach the world for Christ.   The cool thing about the book is that it offers a lot of tools and practical ways to do this.   Chad spent a lot of time preparing to do a nightly Bible study with our kids.  It has been amazing.   Actually, a few nights ago, Ethan accepted Christ as his savior!

The kids are learning this Arrow's Pledge:

I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my hands, to serve all mankind
I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my feet,
to spread the Gospel to all the ends of the earth, no matter the cost.
I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my lips,
by proclaiming the Good News to all who hear,
and by edifying the body of Christ.
I take a stand to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with my mind,
as I meditate upon His Word.
I give my earthly treasures and all that I possess to follow the way of the cross.
I commit to love my family, orphans, widows, lepers, the wealthy,
and the poor, the way Christ loves the Church.
I surrender my will and life to His will and life.
I commit to the service of the Lord by being a good steward of my time.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation.
As a soldier of the cross I stand with the Apostle Paul in stating that,
“For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Lord Jesus, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
I love my family, my friends and my enemies, and I claim my country for Christ.

Chad also started a kid's catechism with them.   THey are learning so much.  He does the questions and answers with them, but, he also takes them to scriptures to back up what they are learning.   Another thing he did was to make it hands on.  They were learning about God's creation, so they went outside everyday to find things and see how they glorify God.

It's been a great experience.   I'll try to post what he's doing in case anyone is interested.   I think our kids are going to learn a lot of scripture as well as how to back up what they believe.   The best thing about it has been that the kids are excited to do it every night!  We've been taking our time on this and not rushing through it.  We'll move on when we feel like the kids have a good grasp on all of this information.

Here is the first set of questions, answers and the scriptures to go with them:
Who made you?

God
....then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
(Genesis 2:7 ESV)
The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
(Job 33:4 ESV)
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
(Psalm 139:14 ESV)
What else did God make?

God made all things
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth...
(Colossians 1:16 ESV)
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
(Psalm 33:6 ESV)
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
(Revelation 4:11 ESV)
Why did God make you and all other things?

For His own glory
...everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
(Isaiah 43:7 ESV)
For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation.
(Psalm 149:4 ESV)
What can you do to glorify God?

Loving Him and doing what He commands
...for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
(1 Corinthians 6:20 ESV)
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
(1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV)
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Philippians 2:9-11 ESV)
