Pickin' Blueberries

Last week we picked blueberries with some friends.  The kids had such a great time!  I don't know that they picked many berries, but, they made some great memories.  I picked almost a gallon!   We had some delicious blueberry cobbler.

I mixed blueberries with maple syrup and cinnamon. Then I spread it out in my baking dish.  Next I poured a gluten free yellow cake mix over the top.   Lastly, I melted a stick of butter and covered the cake mix with it.   I baked it for about 20 minutes.  It was so good!

Shelby Drive

Well, we officially have a contract on our house.  I really thought we'd live here forever.   We have been here almost 3 years and it seems like so much longer.   We love where we live.   We love the lifestyle we're able to live here.   We love our chickens, ducks, bees, the hill the kids ride down, the stream, the huge beautiful trees.  The only thing is that we rushed into this house.   We "can afford" it.   But...just.  We have yet to learn discipline and stewardship in some areas.   Unfortunately, we learn the hard way sometimes.   Fortunately, things haven't been terrible.  It's not like we HAVE to sell our house.   But, we know we're supposed to.   God put it on both of our hearts at the same time and we just knew.   We put it on craigslist (nothing else) and it sold in a month!  I have cried, but, I also feel a huge weight lifted.   It will be so freeing to not be in bondage to debt any longer.   We try to teach our kids to give, save, spend and that the "borrower is slave to the lender" but we have not led by example. So, that's what we're trying to do.  We want to be able to GIVE more freely.  There is so much need in front of us and most of the time we are helpless to do anything.   We will be able to save up for things we need and want.   By God's grace we will budget our money and be good stewards of what He gives us.   I feel like we have an awesome opportunity to start fresh.  In the meantime, I've been soaking in our last days here.   We'll more than likely have to say goodbye to our beloved pets( the chickens and ducks, at least).   This place has been such an easy place to just look outside and see the beauty of God's creation.   I hope that I learn to see that wherever He places us...which we do not know yet where we will end up!   Trusting He goes ahead!

Picked some berries at a nearby farm.

Enjoying the fruit of our labor over the past 2 years!
